How to Adopt

We’re excited about your interest in adopting a bunny from Sweet Rose Rabbitry!

To ensure the privacy of our family and the well-being of our bunnies, our adoption process is handled entirely online. All available bunnies are PICK-UP ONLY in Jericho, NY 11753. We do not allow in-person visits, as our bunnies are lovingly raised inside our home. Bunnies must be picked up on their scheduled go-home date and time.

There are two ways to adopt bunnies from our upcoming litter:

  1. Join our waitlist when it becomes available — we open it during smaller litters, typically when there are 6 or fewer bunnies available.

  2. Reserve from our current litter on the reservation date - see below for Standard Reservation information. 

 

For either option, you must read through our Adoption Policy and fill out our Prescreen Application for approval. We typically respond to prescreen forms within 48 hours.

We ask that all interested families carefully review our adoption policy, waitlist process, reservation details. This ensures a clear understanding of timelines, expectations, and requirements, helps keep the process fair for everyone, and allows everything to run smoothly for both families and our rabbitry.

Waitlist Information

To give our babies the best start and ensure a fair process for families, we offer a waitlist once litters are born and thriving. With our bunnies in high demand, the waitlist allows families an opportunity to reserve one of these special little ones.


When the Waitlist Opens

  • We open our waitlist during smaller litters, typically consisting of 3–6 bunnies.

  • The waitlist opens when the babies are 2–3 weeks old, once we feel confident they are healthy and thriving. Please check our "Upcoming Litters" page for the exact open date.

  • Waitlists are only created after birth, never before.

Who the Waitlist Is For
The waitlist was created specifically for families who are:

  • Serious and committed

  • Open to adopting any bunny from the current litter(s), regardless of gender or color.

 

Many families who have previously adopted from us often share the same sentiment on reservation day:

“I love all the bunnies you have, it’s so hard to choose. I would be happy with any of the babies available.” If this mindset resonates with you, the waitlist is likely a great fit.

Deposit & Payment Details

  • The waitlist deposit is $50 per bunny, paid via Venmo.

  • The deposit goes toward the total adoption fee

  • Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable

  • The waitlist applies only to the current litter for which you are leaving a deposit.


Important: Families must let us know if they are reserving one or two bunnies.

  • Each spot represents one bunny and requires a $50 deposit

  • Reserving two bunnies requires a $100 deposit

 

Adoption Fee Information

  • The adoption fee for the current litter will range from $600–$900 per bunny.

  • The exact adoption fee for each bunny will be shared on the day of reservation, allowing us to better assess the bunnies.

  • Please ensure you are comfortable with this price range before joining the waitlist or participating in reservations.

 

Waitlist Availability

The waitlist spots is limited based on the number of babies available.

  • As an example, if a litter has six (6) babies, I will accept up to five (5) waitlist deposits.

  • One spot is intentionally kept open as a potential keeper or in the rare event that a baby becomes ill or otherwise unavailable.

  • The spots will be filled in the order the emails are received. 

  • We may choose to open that final spot closer to reservation day only if I decide not to keep a bunny from the litter and all babies are healthy and thriving at that time.

 

Reservation Timing & Updates:

  • ​Reservations will take place when the baby bunnies are approximately 5–6 weeks old.

  • Prior to the reservation, families on the waitlist will be notified by email with the official reservation date and time.

  • A few days before reservation day, individual photos and gender information will be shared on our website under "Available Bunnies".

  • Reservations for waitlist families are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sending your email right at the start of the reservation window is encouraged, but it does not guarantee your first few choices, as availability depends on earlier selections. 

  • Please note, when reservations open, many emails come in at once and may all show 10:00 AM. Even so, my inbox delivers them in a clear order, and I respond in the order received. 

  • Waitlist families will have four (4) hours from the start of the reservation window to submit their reservation request. If we do not receive an email within this timeframe, the deposit will be forfeited, and any remaining bunnies will be made available to the public.

  • The steps for reserving a bunny are outlined below under “Reservation Process” Please see the details below.

Photos & Videos

  • Waitlist will be based solely on the photos or videos that are currently available on our website and Instagram. I will continue to share videos and photos as the babies grow, but please do not request additional content.

Important Notes

  • In the rare event that one or more babies become unavailable before reservation:

    • The last person added to the waitlist will be refunded first

    • Refunds will continue in reverse order if necessary

 

How to Join the Waitlist

Once the waitlist open, families who are ready to join with a deposit can may email us 📧 sweetroseliny@gmail.com Once we respond with our Venmo information, we ask that the deposit be submitted within 15 minutes to secure your spot on the waitlist.

Getting Started with Adoption

Please start by reviewing our Adoption Policy thoroughly. Once you’ve read it and feel fully prepared and committed to providing a loving, responsible home for one of our bunnies, proceed to complete the online prescreen form. Links to both the policy and the form are available at the top of this page

Check our "Available Bunnies" page first!

If we don’t have any available, stay updated on our litters and reservation dates by following us on Instagram and visiting the "Upcoming Litters" page on our website.

Bunnies are available for reservation once they are 5–6 weeks old, and reservation dates will be posted before they reach four weeks of age. A few days before their reservation date, they’ll be moved to the Available Bunnies page, complete with individual photos and gender details to help you make your choice.

Please keep in mind that by the time our standard reservation opens, if a waitlist had been available, some — or even all — of the bunnies may already be reserved since families on the waitlist receive first pick. Any bunnies that have already been reserved will be clearly noted on the Available Bunnies page of our website, so you’ll know which sweet babies are still looking for their forever homes.

Reservation Process (Waitlist & Standard):

On the specified reservation date and time (listed on our Upcoming Litters and Available Bunnies pages), please send an email to sweetroseliny@gmail.com to reserve a bunny.

Email Instructions: Include your preferred bunny choices in order of priority. Listing multiple choices increases your chances of reserving a bunny.

Fairness Policy: Emails received before the designated start time will be added to the end of the list.

Timeliness Matters: While emailing at the exact start time increases your chances, it does not guarantee a reservation due to high demand.

Response Process: We will contact interested parties in the order that emails are received. Our response will include details about the available bunnies and the adoption fee. Please make sure your notifications are enabled so you don’t miss our emails, as we occasionally have families who miss out on securing a bunny because they didn’t see our message in time.

Confirmation Window: After receiving our Venmo information, you will have 15 minutes to confirm your reservation and submit a deposit equal to half of the adoption fee. After this time, we will move on to the next interested party.

Payment Requirement: We currently accept deposits via Venmo only. Please ensure your account is set up in advance. Deposits must be sent without the Purchase Protection. 

Please note that our reservation process can take a few hours, depending on the number of bunnies available. As a result, it may take some time for us to respond to your email.

Once we receive your deposit, your bunny reservation is secured. You can expect a welcome email by the following day.

Availability After Reservation Opening

If we still have bunnies available after reservation time has opened, please email us at sweetroseliny@gmail.com and mention which bunny you’re interested in. You’ll receive a response if the bunny is still available, along with their adoption fee. If you decide to move forward with the reservation and haven’t submitted the prescreen form yet, you’ll be asked to complete it before moving forward. Once your prescreen has been approved, I’ll send you our Venmo information. Please note that you’ll have 30 minutes to send the deposit to secure your bunny once you receive our Venmo information. 

Important Information

  • Prescreen Approval: Submitting the prescreen form is necessary to be considered for adoption. We will review your submission and respond within 24-72 hours to let you know if you’re approved.

  • Approval Validity: An approved prescreen form is valid for two months from the date of submission.

  • Important Note: Approval does not guarantee a bunny. The full adoption process must be completed to secure one.

  • Adoption Fee:  Our adoption fees range from $400 to $1000, with most falling between $600 - $900. The fee reflects the quality of care that goes into raising these wonderful companions, as well as several other factors including age, type, size, coat color, and markings. The adoption fee is usually set a day before the litter's reservation day, allowing us to better assess the bunnies.

  • Priority Reservations: Not all bunnies listed below may be available for reservation at the standard reservation time. We reserve the right to select bunnies from any litter at any time unless a deposit has been received for a specific bunny. In addition, if a waitlist had been available for the litter(s), those on the waitlist would receive priority reservation. Any remaining bunnies would then be available for standard reservation.

Adopting a Bunny That's 8 Weeks and Older

  • If you see bunnies that are 8 weeks and older, they’re ready to go to their new homes now! Once your prescreen form is approved, we can reserve a bunny for you right away and schedule a convenient pickup date and time.​

  • Deposit: A deposit of half the adoption fee is required via Venmo. Please make sure to read the Adoption Policy thoroughly before placing a deposit.

  • Confirmation and Scheduling: After the deposit is received, you will receive a confirmation email. The bunny must be picked up within seven days of the deposit.​

  • If no bunnies are available at the time, please keep an eye on our Instagram and Upcoming Litters page on website for future reservation dates.
